LinkedIn and Job Searching are synonymous
LinkedIn is multi-faceted, however for the purposes of job searching it is essential that you have an exemplary profile and that you build strong connections.
Once you have established yourself on LinkedIn then you have the opportunity to use the site for positioning yourself suitably, to be found by recruiters and to job search in earnest.
Three tips to build a resourceful network on LinkedIn
- Research people with a common theme. Look for keywords, whether it’s industry or company related, qualifications or similar background. Consider linking in with people from your old school or university, etc.
- Personalise your invite to connect and link with the person. Using the standard ‘send invitation’ mark the person as a friend and add a personal message as to why you want to connect and add them to your network. This should be related to point 1.
- Capitalise on the common ground as above in 1. and 2. Using the related keywords ask questions, ask for information and share information with your new contacts.
